A Community Preschool since 2008 ~ Coming soon to Boerum Hill!
Parker’s Place opened its doors in 2008 as our first location in Park Slope, Brooklyn. After 15 wonderful years in our original location, Parker’s Place is moving to Boerum Hill! Our brand-new location will feature 5 classrooms, an indoor playground/sensory gym, a rooftop play space, and quick, easy access to a local playground. This location will feature special needs inclusion and classrooms for toddlers (under 2 years). We’re looking forward to serving the families of Boerum Hill, Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill and Downtown Brooklyn.
The Olive Treehouse Group focuses on educating the whole child and creating a space where all children can learn and thrive. Our inclusive practice means that as the needs of the children in our care change, we evolve to meet those needs, and when those needs are met all children can successfully grow and learn together. We believe that every infant and young child, regardless of ability, has the right to participate in enriching activities and environments as full members of their families, communities, and society.
Inclusive learning environments, like ours, help children develop positive self-images, friendships, social skills, problem-solving skills, and respect for others. Most young children have not yet been exposed to stereotypes attached to people with visible and invisible disabilities and we strive to break down those stereotypes in an accessible curriculum rich with social-emotional learning. Children learn that they are safe, supported, and find confidence to face challenges.
Collaborative relationships with families, service providers, and the community are essential to supporting inclusion at the Olive Treehouse Group. We rely on our partnerships with both private service providers and the Committee for Preschool Special Education to ensure therapeutic services are accessible both in and outside of our schools. Together with families, we work as a team to make sure that every child gets what they need to succeed in school, home, and beyond.
